Georgia Highlands hosted the Northwest Shoals Patriots ina three game series this weekend at Commander Robert Bentley Field, and they did not forget to bring the lumber. The Chargers hit a cool .494 on the weekend against the Pats and scored 37 runs in the series. Tyler Phillips, Ryan Martin, and Heath Whitlock combined for 5 home runs on the weekend, while Braxton Wade, Andrew Arnold, and Kaiden Krak each collected victories on the mound agains what head coach Dash O'Neill described as a very tough opponent. "That's a really good team we just played this weekend. They are very well coached, extremely physical, and had a lot of good arms. I'm proud of the way our guys answered the bell against a very good opponent."
The sweep pushes the Chargers record to 17-3 on the season as they head into GCAA play this week. They will be on the road at South Georgia State College on Tuesday before hosting USC Salkehatchie in a makeup doubleheader at home on Wednesday.
