NWF Overcomes Early Struggles, Pull Away for a 71-44 Win

NICEVILLE, Fla. – Northwest Florida wins again at home as Coach Walker and his team overcame early struggles in the first quarter, winning 71-44 over Georgia Highlands on Saturday afternoon in Raider Arena.

 

The Raiders were down after the first quarter 13-11, only knocking down 5-20 (25%) from the field. NWF turned it around in the 2nd quarter, draining 9-15 (60%) and going on a 13-0 run before halftime to pull ahead 31-19. Northwest Florida dominated inside as they outrebounded the Chargers 47-23 and scored 36 points in the paint compared to the Chargers' 18.

 

Ro Marc had another great night as she scored 14 points and secured 5 rebounds. Destiney McPhaul filled the stat sheet with 13 points, 6 assists, and 4 rebounds. McPhaul started out the 2nd half draining three 3s in a row to pull the Raiders ahead by 20.

 

#8 Northwest Florida (9-2) will head to Marianna to take on Florida State College at Jacksonville on Friday, December 16th at 12:00 PM. The Blue Wave are 4-5 this season, averaging 57.8 points/game.
