Bucs Cruise Past Chargers In Season Opener

MORRISTOWN, TENN.- The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers tipped off their 2022-2023 season on the road in Morristown, Tennessee on Friday, shellacking the defending NJCAA National Tournament runners-up, Georgia Highlands by a count of 69-43 to get their campaign started off with a bang.  
 
It was all FSW all afternoon on Friday as the Bucs jumped out to a 20-9 lead after one quarter of action and doubled the lead before the half as they went to the locker rooms up 40-19. 
 
The Chargers gave the Bucs more of a challenge in the second half, but FSW again won both quarters in the half, taking a 55-31 lead after three before running away with a 69-43 victory at the final horn.  
 
The Bucs shot 44% from the field in the win, getting 13 points from Macarena Retamales to lead the way while Blessing King added 12 points and a team best 7 rebounds off the bench. 
 
FSW is back in action on Saturday afternoon at 2 as they battle the 2nd ranked Shelton State Bucs to wrap up their trip to the Volunteer State.
